Shonda Rhimes
Post: October 6, 2013
Shondaland is the home of many great television shows. Creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and one of the hottest shows on TV Scandal, Shonda Rhimes has a lot to smile about.
Rhimes was born in Chicago, Illinois and is a college graduate of Dartmouth where she studied Creative Writing, according to US News.com. This seems to be where she honed her skills to be one of the best television drama writers out today. According to WGA.com, Rhimes also wrote the HBO original movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, played by Halle Berry in 1999, according to IMDB.com.
Rhimes show Grey’s Anatomy has been on ABC since 2005 and is still going. After the huge success of Grey’s, ABC provided the green light for her show Private Practice in 2007, which starred Kate Walsh as Addison and Taye Diggs as Sam. Private Practice ended in early 2013, but that did not stop Rhimes.
So far, none of Rhimes shows have exploded like Scandal has to date. The show was written solely based on the real life crisis manager Judy Smith. Judy Smith must be good, because even Paula Deen’s team hired her to manage Paula’s insensitive situation towards African-Americans, according to the Huffington Post.com.
According to Deadline.com, Rhimes company Shondaland has four new shows set in the near future. One of them is a police drama series from by ABC called Just Rewards.
We hope her current and new shows are successful!
